Decorative products and 3D printing with Kerwood® foamed ceramics

Foamed ceramics is perfectly suitable for both selective laser sintering and contour construction (in the latter case, integral thermal protection is simultaneously realized).

Areas of application and main advantages

Foamed ceramic granules are suitable for prototyping, production of various parts and components (including three-dimensional printing of concrete) on 3D printers, manufacturing of casting and molds.

In fact, Kerwood® foamed ceramics can completely replace sand, being successfully applied for any 3D printing tasks and invariably improving the quality of the result.

Low density

The density of Kerwood® foamed ceramic microspheres is only 20% of the weight of a similar volume of ordinary sand. Thus, the weight of the printed parts is reduced by 80%. There is no additional action or waste required to replace traditional sand with Kerwood® microspheres.

Simplified processing

Due to some features of Kerwood® ceramics (for example, rough surface, which improves adhesion to the binder), it becomes easier to work with printed parts when it is applied.

Lower consumption of the binding substance

With three-dimensional printing by contouring, you can use less binder, besides direct cost savings, it also makes the weight of created parts even lighter. In this case, the strength of the structures does not decrease, since the granules are very resistant to pressure.

Excellent heat insulation

The method of contour construction today produces a 3D print of these building materials: whole houses are created from parts produced on a three-dimensional printer. With Kerwood® granules heat insulation qualities will be significantly improved. And this means saving on heating in the cold climate and energy for the operation of air conditioners in the hot one.

Safety

Granules are absolutely incombustible, and with strong heating, they do not make hazardous to humans substances.

At the same time, there is complete freedom in the choice of geometric shapes and sizes of the printed parts.
